Come ready to roll up your sleeves and explore! The afternoon is packed with interactive STEM experiments that make learning feel like playtime, imaginative role play that builds confidence, and adorable plush buddies to discover along the way. Team Genius Squad products will also be available for purchase on-site — think experiment kits, lab coats, coloring books, puzzles, and so much more, all designed to keep the learning going long after the party ends. Please note that photos and videos taken at the event may be used for promotional and educational purposes, and families will be asked to complete a media release form upon arrival.
This event is hosted by none other than Ava N. Simmons— the 13-year-old powerhouse behind Team Genius Squad, also known as Ava The STEM Princess® and Ava The STEM Ambassador™. She is not your average teenager.
Diagnosed with dyslexia and dysgraphia at an early age, Ava knows firsthand what it feels like to struggle in a classroom that doesn't quite fit your learning style. But instead of giving up, she discovered the transformative power of hands-on STEM, creativity, and self-belief — and she hasn't looked back since. She went from being teased for learning differently to becoming a celebrated youth leader who thinks boldly outside the box. A true genius, she'll tell you, is intuitive, creative, and utterly unique — and she's made it her mission to help every child discover that genius in themselves.
Today, Ava has impacted over 800,000 families globally, authored 3 books, designed 15 STEM kits, and had her curriculum and products featured in Scholastic catalogs. She stars in Mini Fab Science Lab, a PBS NC original production streaming now on YouTube and the PBS app, and has grown a community of over 110,000 subscribers and followers across all major social media platforms.
